Sack Back Windsor

This double-bow American design was one of the most popular of the 18th century Windsors. The top bow, by the way, was often covered by a half-round sacking pillow, hence the name "sackback". It's a compact, inviting chair with rounded lines suggesting domestic comfort. Our version is derived from both American and Nova Scotian Originals

The oval pine seat is deeply saddled with a swallow's wing profile, the turnings are sugar maple, and the delicate yet strong hickory spindles are tightly wedged to the bow.
