Sack Back Windsor
This double-bow American design was one of the most popular of the
18th century Windsors. The top bow, by the way, was often covered
by a half-round sacking pillow, hence the name "sackback".
It's a compact, inviting chair with rounded lines suggesting domestic
comfort. Our version is derived from both American and Nova Scotian
Originals
The oval pine seat is deeply saddled with a swallow's
wing profile, the turnings are sugar maple, and the delicate yet strong
hickory spindles are tightly wedged to the bow. Like all our Windsor
chairs, it has the sense of converging lines along the angles of the
undercarriage, seat and arm rest that gives focus to the piece.tttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt$625.00
